Restoration of ecological processes of the Keri Lake wetland, Zakynthos: Sealing of three (3) old hydrocarbon wells and monitoring of the results – Pilot Application
Financing : This project is part of the Financing Program "NATURAL ENVIRONMENT & INNOVATIVE ACTIONS 2023", in Priority Axis 1 "Biodiversity Conservation Actions - Innovative Actions - Smart Cities - Other Actions" - Green Fund

The project envisages the control/ termination of hydrocarbon leaks originating from three main drilling wells and the management of the produced liquid and solid waste in the intervention area. At the same time, a recording/monitoring system for the natural network of hydrocarbon outflows will be developed, a) for its monitoring, and b) for its possible impact from interventions required for the restoration of the ecological processes of the wetland.

The project focused on three strategic areas: deep geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, and underground hydrogen storage. The overall objective was to build a long-term capacity and networking platform that would allow the widening partner to participate more strongly in European research and innovation on sustainable energy transition.

The project #GreeningDryCleaning project, harmonized with EU directives and the Hellenic national legislation to reduce disposable plastics, chooses to create an innovative action and case study in the dry cleaning industry represented by small businesses.
