Project summary: TWINN2SET was created to strengthen the scientific excellence, visibility and innovation capacity of the newly established Institute of Geoenergy of FORTH through a twinning partnership with the University of Stavanger and IFP Energies nouvelles. The project focused on three strategic areas: deep geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, and underground hydrogen storage. The overall objective was to build a long-term capacity and networking platform that would allow the widening partner to participate more strongly in European research and innovation on sustainable energy transition. TWINN2SET combined knowledge transfer, staff exchanges, field visits, technical training, soft-skills development, exploratory research and stakeholder outreach. Its expected impact was to strengthen scientific capacity, improve access to excellence, support future joint proposals and research infrastructures, and create a stronger bridge between science, industry, policy and society in support of a fair and innovation driven energy transition.
