The Institute of GeoEnergy (IG/FORTH) participated in the 15th FORTH Retreat 2026, the biennial gathering of the FORTH research community, which aims to strengthen communication and collaboration among the Foundation’s research groups. The event provides a stimulating environment for presenting research findings, exchanging ideas and fostering new synergies.

The Institute of Geoenergy (IG/FORTH) participated in Researchers’ Night at FORTH 2026, organized by the Foundation for Research and Technology and held in Heraklion, Greece, on 25 September, with the aim of informing and raising public awareness about the Institutes’ research activities, while also encouraging young people to discover the world of research and science.

The Institute of Geoenergy of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) is pleased to announce the launch of the BLUEQ Observatory and National Blue Carbon Network and to invite civil society organizations, public authorities, research and educational institutions, and other interested organizations to join.

From July 7th to 9th 2026, the final sampling campaign of the BlueQ project was successfully carried out on the Žut island of the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, making the completion of the fieldwork phase of the project across the Adriatic-Ionian study areas.

Dr. Nikolaos Kostoglou, Principal Researcher at the Institute of GeoEnergy of FORΤΗ, participated in the 9th Environmental Conference of Macedonia (ECOMAC-9), held in Thessaloniki, between 8–10 May 2026.

The new facilities of the Institute of Geoenergy of FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas), located at the University Campus in Akrotiri, Chania, were visited on Tuesday, May 19, by the Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Research and Innovation, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis.
