Dr. Dimitrios Marinakis is an Assistant Professor of Petroleum Production Engineering at the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Western Macedonia. He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Techno-Economic Systems from the same institution, and a PhD in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering from the Technical University of Crete.
His research activity focuses on the thermodynamic behavior and flow properties of reservoir fluids, PVT characterization of petroleum fluids, natural gas hydrates, flow assurance, and emerging technologies related to underground hydrogen and CO₂ storage. He has extensive experience in the design, development, and operation of experimental setups for equilibrium and flow measurements under high-pressure and high-temperature reservoir conditions.
Dr. Marinakis previously served as Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Technical University of Crete and worked as a production engineer at Motor Oil Hellas. His scientific output includes publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributions to international conferences, and participation in academic textbooks and technical professional guides. He also has substantial teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to petroleum engineering, geothermal systems, reservoir engineering, hydrocarbon production, and advanced energy technologies.
