Dr. Nikolaos Kostoglou, Principal Researcher at the Institute of GeoEnergy of FORΤΗ, participated in the 9th Environmental Conference of Macedonia (ECOMAC-9), held in Thessaloniki, between 8–10 May 2026.
During the conference, Dr. Kostoglou delivered an invited lecture titled “Nanoporous carbons derived from breakfast waste as sustainable hydrogen storage materials”, presenting recent research advances on the development of sustainable nanoporous carbon materials for hydrogen storage applications. In addition, he presented a scientific poster titled “Carbon nanoflowers for hydrogen storage and air purification applications”, focusing on multifunctional carbon nanostructures for hydrogen storage and air purification technologies.
Dr. Kostoglou also served as Session Chair and member of the Scientific Committee of ECOMAC-9. Furthermore, he presented the Best Poster Award related to carbon materials on behalf of the international journal C—Journal of Carbon Research (MDPI). The award was granted to Mr. Fivos Florides, PhD student at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Poland), for his outstanding poster presentation.
