Dr. Nikolaos Kostoglou is a Researcher Grade B’ (Associate Research Professor) at the Institute of GeoEnergy of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), based in Chania, Greece. He also maintains a strong research collaboration with the Technical University of Leoben (Austria), where he previously served for eight years as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher and Group Leader in Porous Materials within Prof. Christian Mitterer’s research group.
He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree with honors in Energy Technologies and Sustainable Design from the University of Cyprus. In 2017, he completed his PhD with distinction at the Technical University of Leoben, titled “Carbon-based nanoporous materials for hydrogen storage”, under the supervision of Prof. Christian Mitterer.
Dr. Kostoglou’s research focuses on the development and characterization of advanced functional materials and systems for green energy and environmental applications, including hydrogen storage, carbon capture and water purification. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international journals, presented his work at 22 international conferences and contributed to EU- and industry-funded research projects. He is actively involved in the scientific community as an Editorial and Advisory Board Member and as a Guest Editor of international journals.
