Oriented to the development of innovative technologies related to the reduction of the carbon footprint of the energy mixture using hydrogen, geothermal energy, green fuels (biogas, methanol, ethanol, ammonia) and the optimization of the energy systems structure and operation.
Oriented to the research, study and development of methods and techniques for exploring geological structures suitable for the generation and production of fossil organogenic energy resources, the development of innovative methods for their production and transport, the production of conventional fuels with minimal carbon footprint and the development of technologies for carbon dioxide capture and storage.

The Institute of Geoenergy (IG/FORTH) participated in the 9th European Bioremediation Conference (EBC-IX- EBC European Bioremediation Conferences), organized by the Technical University of Crete and Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, which was held in Chania (June 15-19).
The Institute of Geoenergy – FORTH (IG/FORTH) proudly participated in the high-level workshop "Hydrogen Innovation for Regional Growth: Enhancing Mobility and Local Value Chains – The Peloponnese Case", held on June 11, 2025, at Isla Brown Corinthia, in the framework of the TRIERES Hydrogen Valley project.
