Dr Ioannis V. Yentekakis, the Director of the Institute of GeoEnergy/Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (IG/FORTH), is also Professor of Physical Chemistry and Catalysis in the School of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete, Greece. He received his Chemical Engineering Diploma (1983) and PhD (1988) from the University of Patras (UPatras). His academic career and research are associated with Princeton University, USA, and ICE-HT/FORTH (Postdoc); Cambridge University, UK (collaborating with Prof. R.M. Lambert); Dept. of Chemical Engineering UPatras (Lecturer: 1996 and Assistant Professor: 2000); and the Technical University of Crete (Associate Professor: 2001 and Professor: 2006-today). His current research interests concern development of novel nanostructured materials and heterogeneous catalytic processes for environmental and energy applications, such as natural gas and biogas valorization, CO2 capture/utilization, H2 and renewable energy technologies and Fuel cells. He is author of 147 peer-reviewed journal publications, 3 patents, 10 books and >170 publications in conference proceedings. His published work has received >7600 citations, h-index = 52 (Google Scholar). He is Section Editor-in-Chief of Nanomaterials and Specialty Chief-Editor of Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry. His research has been funded with ~ 10 M€ in 39 research projects (24 as coordinator) by the European Union, the Hellenic Ministry of Development-GSRT, etc. He has supervised 4 postdocs, 9 PhDs, more than 20 M.Sc. and approximately 100 undergraduate theses. Prof. Yentekakis name has consistently been ranked (since the creation of the rating index) in the top 2% of scientists worldwide, according to the Stanford University list.
