Dr. Dionysia Kolokotsa is Professor and Dean of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, in the field of Energy Resources Management. Her research activity focuses on energy management for the built environment, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, cold materials, distributed energy management systems, artificial intelligence, building automation, integration of advanced energy technologies in buildings at regional and city scale, analysis of urban verheating and local climate change, energy poverty, design, development and energy management of microgrids and smart grids. Her research has led to the promotion of energy efficiency in the built environment by developing expertise in the following areas: (a) integrated energy management systems (b) promotion of zero-energy buildings and communities (c) addressing urban overheating and integrating nature-based solutions and highly reflective materials . She is Editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Solar Energy Advances, published by Elsevier. She has served as Editor-in-chief of Advances in Building Energy Research, published by Taylor and Francis. In addition, she has been a member of the editorial team of numerous scientific journals in the field of energy management and energy efficiency in the built environment (Energy and Buildings-Elsevier, Renewable Energy, Energies -MDPI, Nature-Smart Cities, Plos Climate, etc.). ) and is the author of over 140 articles in high impact journals with over 6000 citations. She is the author of 4 Highly Cited Papers (Clarivate Reports) of which one is considered a Research Front. She has coordinated many research projects at national and international level in the field of smart and green cities, energy technologies, zero energy buildings and communities and reducing the built environment's carbon footprint. She is editor of 10 books, edited volumes, and an evaluator of research projects in Greece and internationally. From 2011 to 2021 she was President of the European Cool Roofs Council. She is a member of international committees on energy and environment (International Energy Agency, SuRe Standard for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure, etc.).
