Apostolos Giannis is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete (TUC) (Greece). Before joining TUC, he was Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Residues and Resource Reclamation Centre, Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He has published more than 200 papers in scientific journals and international conferences. His scientific contribution is internationally recognized at different chemical and environmental engineering disciplines. He is serving as Editor in the Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering and Associate Editor in Waste Management journal, Discover Environment, and Water Conservation Science and Engineering, while he is Editorial Board Member of several other journals. He is associated with the International Waste Working Group (IWWG). His principal research areas are waste to energy, waste to materials, resource recovery, circular economy, thermal processing, sludge management, waste bioconversion, and remediation of contaminated sites. Furthermore, his research on waste management is in-line with the keyword “waste is not a waste but a misplaced resource”.
