Short CV
Efsevia (Voula) Fragkou holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the Technical University of Crete (MRED). Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Crete (CHENVENG), in collaboration with the Institute of GeoEnergy (FORTH/IG) (PhD Thesis title: “Integrated approach for hydrocarbon degradation in deep-sea environments using different bioremediation agents”).
She started her doctoral studies in October 2019, as part of the DEEPSEA project (‘DEEPSEA-Bioremediation of hydrocarbon releases in Deep Sea’) funded by H.F.R.I. and G.S.R.T. Her research since, has mainly focused on the bioremediation of deep-sea environments from petroleum hydrocarbons, and as of 2022 she is a Scientific Associate in the X-PRESS project (X-PRESS-EXtreme environments: High PRESsure Sampling and experimentation system for deep sea hydrocarbon releases) hosted at the FORTH/IG and funded by H.F.R.I.
Throughout her studies, Efsevia Fragkou has been involved in a number of different topics, such as LNG production technologies and process simulation as part of her Master’s degree and biofuel production from lignocellulosic biomass, at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (FORTH/ICE-HT), as part of her diploma.
Lately, she has successfully completed a series of seminars from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens regarding “CO2 Industry Carbon Capture, Storage & Utilization (CCS & CCU)” (2021-2022), and “Health and Safety Management & Environmental Protection of Industrial Enterprises” (2020-2021). She has participated in the writing of research articles and has presented related work on international and European conferences (EBC-VIII, ISMOS8, PESXM13, Mikrobiokosmos9).
